I will be the first one to confess that I’ve purchased an itsy bitsy, teeny tiny jar of salt body scrub for more than $30. Yup, I blew all that money because sometimes a girl just wants to pretend she’s at the spa. Even if that means locking yourself in your bathroom and using a fancy potion. When I learned how easy it was to make just as luxurious a scrub as my $30 one, I almost fell over in disbelief. In under ten minutes you can craft a vast quantity of spa-like salt scrub for less than the price of my favorite coffee.

How to make a salt body scrub

Salt for the salt body scrub

Choose your salt. Table salt, sea salt, Epsom or pink Himalayan sea salt are all options you can try. I went with regular old table salt because it’s inexpensive and I had tons of it on hand.

Next, I used coconut oil as my base. It’s easy to use and doesn’t need to be heated. I also choose to use essential oils in my scrub. I added wild orange oil but you can use any oil or scent that you enjoy.

Now the formula for success. One cup salt mixed with one cup coconut oil. Then, four drops of essential oils, but you can decide how much based on your preference for scent.

salt scrub jarred as gifts

I know, you’re laughing right now because it’s seriously that easy. Want to hear the best part? Since it’s such a simple recipe, you can get your kids on board to help. This is a great gift for Mother’s Day, a teacher or even Christmas presents.

I fancied my scrub up by using small mason jars, pretty ribbon, and a label. Those little touches turned an easy recipe into a beautiful gift. The possibilities are endless, so stop wasting money on buying the store bought version. Make your own for a fraction of the cost and know exactly what goes in it.
